4 Insulation Performance Of UPVC Window

4 Insulation Performance Of UPVC Window

Aug 12, 2021

Upvc window is a popular choice for both residential and commercial use because of its durability and its insulation performance for air, water, temperature, voice, and noise. In this article, we will illustrate the insulation performance of the upvc windows.

1. Air insulation

upvc fixed window vs upvc casement windows vs upvc sliding doors and windows

Generally speaking, the air tightness of doors and windows is that upvc fixed windows are better than casement windows, and casement windows are one level higher than sliding doors and windows; plastic doors and windows are 2~3 levels higher than metal doors and windows, and metal doors and windows are 1~2 levels higher than wooden doors and windows. ; Among plastic sliding doors and windows, the frame-wrapped fan style is one to two grades higher than the fan-wrapped frame style.

2. Water insulation

Generally speaking, the rainwater leakage performance of doors and windows is better than open windows for fixed windows, side-hung doors and windows can be 1 to 2 levels higher than sliding doors and windows; plastic doors and windows are 2 to 3 levels higher than doors and windows of other materials;

3. Temperature insulation

The thermal insulation performance of doors and windows refers to the ability of the doors and windows to prevent heat transfer from the high-temperature side to the low-temperature side when the air on both sides of the door and window has a temperature difference.

Generally speaking, the thermal insulation performance of single glass plastic doors and windows can reach above level 4, and the thermal insulation performance of double (hollow) glass plastic doors and windows can also reach level 2. The thermal insulation performance of single glass metal windows without thermal blocking treatment is difficult Reaching level 5, the thermal insulation performance of double metal windows can barely reach level 5.

The use of single glass plastic window and door can save energy by about 40% than single glass metal doors and windows, and the use of double (hollow) plastic doors and windows is better than double (hollow) glass and metal windows. Energy saving is about 52%.

Temperature insulation Performance Grade:

Single glass window & door     Grade 4
Double glass window & door    Grade 2
Single glass Aluminum window  worse than Grade 5
Double glass Aluminum window   Grade 5

4. Voice insulation

Generally speaking, the air sound insulation performance of plastic doors and windows can reach Rw=30db; the air sound insulation performance of single-glass or single-cavity profiles is lower than that of double (hollow) glass or multi-cavity profiles.

△P is the air pressure difference between the inside and outside of the door and window, and it is qualified if the rainwater does not splash or overflow into the room.

Generally speaking, the rainwater leakage performance of doors and windows is better than open windows for fixed windows, side-hung doors and windows can be 1 to 2 levels higher than sliding doors and windows; plastic doors and windows are 2 to 3 levels higher than doors and windows of other materials;
